My name is Ghezal Karimi. I’m a 21 year old Afghan American girl who immigrated to the United States as a youth at the age of eleven. I’m currently a third year undergraduate student at UC Davis majoring in Psychology and Economics. In addition, I’m a trained Peer Support Specialist and currently work at a Muslim Youth Hopeline as a Peer Counselor. I’m also a mental health advocate and work at my own university campus as a Mental Health Ambassador. Additionally, I’m currently involved in many organizations catered towards helping Muslims within our community. Finally, I have sufficient prior experience in tutoring children and young adults in different subject areas and I’m really excited to tutor our own Afghan girls and help them receive an education or learn something new.
